More people aren’t cooking in general but wondering how many actually buy these osechi. More stores are open during the New Year’s holidays including convenience stores.
I’m all for tradition, but most of the students and adults I meet don’t care for the taste of osechi dishes. And interestingly, nearly half of my students say they like Christmas over New Year’s. It might be a good idea to add a few more tasty dishes to osechi, even if they are not traditional.
