Der belgische Verteidigungsattaché in Washington DC, Brigadegeneral Bart Verbist, ist zurückgetreten, nachdem er sich über den US-Präsidenten Donald Trump geäußert hatte. Am Donnerstag veröffentlichte die Tageszeitung „De Morgen“ einen Artikel, in dem Brigadegeneral Verbist zitiert wird, er beschreibe die Trump-Präsidentschaft "geprägt von Chaos und Unvorhersehbarkeit".
Ehrlich gesagt hat er einfach die Wahrheit gesagt! und er war dabei sogar zu höflich. Es ist lächerlich, dass er zurücktreten muss. Was für eine korrupte Regierung sie in den USA haben

The job of a diplomate is to communicate with the local regime, no matter how shitty that regime is („you don´t need diplomacy to talk to your friends“)
It is never a good thing as a diplomate to be critical of the host country (see also: the USA ambassador to the Netherlands sent by Trump 1 who got roasted by the press)
Clearly that trust/line of communication is broken, so it is best for all involved for that diplomate to withdraw himself.
He will go back to Brussels and get a new assignment.
