      Tim Cook should step down. Yes, he built Apple into a global brand. That’s a powerhouse. But have you tried to decipher the product offerings lately? I remember when Steve Jobs came back and they would mock the old free jobs Apple product lineups. Five different quadras. 8,500 variants. LC one, two, three. It was a joke. You couldn’t keep any of it straight. Jobs came in and it was good, better, best. That’s it. Simple. Easy for everybody.

      Time for new blood.

      One cannot deny the impact Tim Cook had on the company, but it would be great to see someone else in charge. I realized in the last launch that it’s been YEARS since I’ve been excited about an Apple product and I’m an Apple fanboy. I know the iPhone is the money maker and that smartphones are a mature market. But there are so many other ways they could innovate and they just seem uninterested.

      Years ago, I said Google was great at the macro, so Apple should work on the personal. We should have seen Apple thermostats, doorbells, security cameras, mesh networks, smart speakers, etc. Apple is all about privacy and creating a walled garden, so why not find more ways to build up the ecosystem (walled garden)? Just doing that could lead to other innovations while maintaining privacy and security that people want these days.

      Instead, Apple keeps coming out with a slightly better iPhone and right when they seemed to run out of ideas, they created a new interface that I’m still not in love with (I’m in like with…I guess). Steve Jobs tightened the product line when he returned. I don’t think we need 40 different iPhones, but it would be cool to be able to go to Apple for different things I could use around the house.

      Who, in Apple leadership, could honestly replace him? There’s no vision in that company. I get that Cook wasn’t the most ingenious nor creative genius, but he ran ops at Apple like a well oiled machine. Sadly he wasn’t a visionary, but again, who at Apple?

      I have a strong feeling he won’t.

      He is in the „legacy“ Mode now that so many billionaires are in. He’s quiet about it, sure, but he’s there no doubt… My honest guess is that he is going to step down at some, „ceremonial“ moment. My guess is either the iPhone 20 or when Apple does its 2030 carbon neutral transition to completion (they claim by 2030 and everything I’ve seen shows they are ahead of schedule).

      Ego gets everyone at some point. Give someone enough rope to help them and they’ll hang you with it.

      Cook does have to go, Apple in his reign has become JUST a service company with occasional cool products along the way. To me the killing of the Apple Car cemented to me that Cook will never commit to releasing a revolutionary product that isn’t first approved by super rich shareholders. Especially in the last few years it’s become painfully obvious that he is all about, „shareholders first, services second, customers… maybe“.

      Tim is the one that made Steve’s wishes come true. He’s arguably the last left from Steve’s vision. It’s going to be very interesting seeing how the company flows without any of the old guard at the helm.

      Who’s going to take over the shop? Is that person going to be a “Sales guys”, or an “engineer”….? Steve Jobs hated the “sales guys”….
