Back at the geography department at my old college there was a gigantic poster of a network stating which years the the a map would have been made based on which countries were present.

Korea is still united, so pre 1953, indonesia is independent, so post 1949. My best guess is early 50s.
Right after WW2. Yugoslavia has Istria, Poland new borders, and Germany was officially divided in 1949. Still traces of colonial powers in Africa and Indo-China.
Canada has a huge Winnipeg call out and nothing in Quebec 🤔

Between 1945 and 1946 because Prussia is no longer part of Germany (after ww2) and the partition of India hadn’t happened yet (I think that was 1947)

Not sure, as map is pretty blurry to me, but I usually start with the nations of former Yugoslavia. If pre-Yugoslavia then that provides at least some kind of time frame.

They have Nyasaland and Federation if Rhodesia and Nyasaland. Still it’s 1953 at least

Germany and Korea are not split up (happened in 1948-9), Israel exists (>= 1948). Poland looks like that dirty trick we pulled that has it oozing to the west after WW2, losing territory to Russia and gaining a bit from Germany. Pakistan is on the map but not obviously separated from India in a different color. The Portuguese/Indian colony of Goa still shows as Portuguese, so it’s before 1960.
I vote (1) 1948-9, & (2) this map is cool and you should buy it.

1947. Germany is split, France has West africa, korea is united, and pakistan isnt a thing yet.

Not after 1967. The French West African counties were „independent“ of France around 1959-1962. Because Germany is „one“, and India and Pakistan are nations, I would say 1949-1952.

Sudan is independent, so post 1956. Union of South Africa became Republic of South Africa in 1961. French West Africa officially ended in 1958, with most of those former colonies becoming independent countries by 1960. So somewhere between 1956-60?
