      Yes.

As someone from the East Coast, Carney is a textbook PC in the Peter MacKay tradition. He only looks vaguely left-ish in contrast to the Maple MAGA route PP has gone down. But compare Carney to someone like Tim Houston, and they seem much more alike.

Considering Carney is a liberal in name only at this point (the social policies aspects) yes. He is someone that is close to a conservative in general with the regressive parts of it.

      I mean. Rhetorical question ftw.

How do you think we got him instead of Poillievre? A truly liberal or progressive option wasn’t on the ballot this year and couldn’t have won if they had been.

Carney was our national compromise, and far left though I am I nonetheless remind myself every time this incarnation of Harper makes a decision I dislike that Poillievre would have made a far worse one.

    4. Liberals are a big tent party. Right-leaning Liberals (blue Liberals) have always been around. People forget this. There’s a lack of understanding and nuance.

    5. Yes and no and more. Instead of just your regular austerity budget, less services for Canadians, it should also create jobs in building of infrastructure which a classic PC austerity budget would not do
