      >’I’m really quite shocked and taken aback by how reluctant politicians in our national parliament are to discuss migration.‘

This guy is utterly shameless. Two weeks ago he was part of that stifling consensus.

      >’It must be the only forum in Ireland where people don’t discuss migration.‘

Another one, of course, is the media.

He made comments about immigration being too high.

And of all the many factors he could have chosen to point to while doing so, he opted for one that a) has miniscule impact on overall immgration numbers but b) would be an easy and popular target as far as the electorate are concerned.

So the allegation that it was „populist“ seems entirely fair to me.

He’s positioned himself to the right on immigration, but in a completely substance-less way.

The only purpose in doing so is that he can come out with soundbites like „I’m really quite shocked and taken aback by how reluctant politicians in our national parliament are to discuss migration.“

    4. Politicians have now become barometers for public opinion, compare his comments now to what he said a year back.

Simon has his wains threatened by the far right and his response since has been to try to appease them and now go after the left

      He’s truly spineless

Simon, your lack of action and failing policies are why you’re being mocked.

Well Si, you have an obligation to set the tone and if needed, lower the temperature a bit.

When you blame the failure of a badly-run presidential campaign with a candidate who didn’t connect with voters, look inwards.

Blaming it on migration isn’t the solution, particularly when you look at what the Gardaí averted in Galway last week.

    8. no need, what comes out of his stupid mouth does all the damage. utter clown

    9. It’s amazing that all over the world ‚mass migration‘ seems to be an issue, how is that possible exactly?

Makes you wonder if it’s not really mass migration but rather the fact that a relatively small number of billionaires are soaking up all of the wealth the working classes all over the world generate?

All of our money is going up, it doesn’t trickle down, and then they tell us to fight each other over crumbs.

Harris is such a fucking spineless loser. He’s so afraid of the right that’s he’s desperately pandering to them now. It’s useless, he’s not going to win them over.

Esentialist theory. Harris is a bell end. Who gives a fuck what that muppet says. Now he’s turning to populist statements like the snake he is. Zero integrity.

Go work a real job Simon. Wait you’ve no qualifications or work experience outside of being a politician.

    13. this fucking guy and his mate Varadkar caused this problem. Look at him trying to skirm out of it.

    14. Is he not the centre left?

Have enough time for him but attaching yourself to this left and right $hite is stupid

Just govern for the people ya idiots

    15. Are the left in the room with us Simon?

Also pretty funny given that what was said about Harris is entirely correct.

      He`s a walking `Caricature.`

I would love to see a Spitting Image puppet of him lol ..

Maybe someone could magic us up one on AI.

    17. Oh goodie, now we get to see FFG arbitrarily paint people as ‚the left‘ on these issues, after years of trying it with ‚the right‘ and failing to discourage people from holding views planted in reality.

‚the left‘ or ‚rhe right‘, whoever the bogeyman FFG’s strategy seems to be the same though … act like they’re put upon by some vocal segment of society, and make a big song and dance about not giving them what they want. When in reality, FFG are just doing nothing at all in this regard and are really just doing what the EU wants.

In short, if FFG think they can win over ‚the right‘ with lip service and drop-in-the-ocean deportation flights … they’re wrong.
