I’ll give you 99 reasons why this map makes sense
Thought Florida and the Southwest would be more Catholic
Catholic in Indiana. There’s 2 catholic churches and about 50 protestant within 10 minutes of my house. The protestant ones are of different sizes – some mega and some tiny ones. Seems to be a movement away from traditional protestant names to more general names of churches. the methodist church near me just rebranded to “Community Fellowship “.
The Irish and Italian really shows here.
California has more Protestants than Catholics? That surprised me
I assumed with such a large Latino population it would be more Catholic
I would like to see how Protestants are defined. Some definitions are so broad, basically including everything from Anglicanism to Mormonism, that they don’t make any sense anymore
This is bad source data for Louisiana.
And yet, 6 of the 9 sitting Supreme Court justices are Catholic.
common Northeast W
I heard some protestant lady moved to Vermont an hour ago. This map is wrong.
My state is 1/2 Lutheran, 1/4 catholic.
I would figure Cal would have more Catholics.
A country founded by Protestants for Protestants with Protestants
Seeing this, it makes sense why Catholics make up a majority of The Supreme Court.
I am glad I live in one of the yellow states. It is profound how much different civics are in states with a high Catholic cosmpolitan tradition. Appreciation for them, at least and that tends to turn into action when it comes to building solid institutions, especially with education.
California and New Mexico both have more Protestants than Catholics?
I’m assuming Mormons are counted as Protestant here?
Never would have guessed Vermont had so many Catholics
I can see the Italians.
This shocks me about Louisiana. 2/3 of everyone I know is Catholic.
I suppose North Louisiana’s Baptists really bite into it.
As a native New Yorker, 100% tracks. You should see PRRI’s data on other groups. Remarkably low levels of evangelicals and white Protestants in the NYC metro.
Maryland what have they done to you 💔
Would be interesting to see the breakdown if evangelicals were separated from mainline Protestants as well.
In nm more idiots
I’m in PA and would have thought it’d be more Catholic. I suspect Eastern PA is more Catholic than the rest of the state.
My state is by far dominantly Protestant, which is ironic because I live in a heavily Catholic town.
And this is just one reason why I love New England.
Those non denominational mega church Christians are ruining shit like it’s their turn. Ever heard of the **Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism**? To hell with the non denominational Christians.
OK, so how many humanists does my state have?
At least MA and Rhode Island (and I assume NJ) have more than twice as many Catholics as Protestants, would be interesting to add that category
