    1. Austria’s and Latvia’s flag are kind of similar too, could’ve made it into the list :).

    2. [INSERT] copy homework but change it a little meme.

Also some didn’t change it a little.

    3. Everyone’s mentioning additional pairs, but I just want to say thanks. The picture was a fun read.

UAE, Jordan and Kuwait. All 3 of them are similar with minute differences.

Luxembourg flag is different (blue) colour from the Dutch one. Not sure why on this display they have the same colour?

    6. Interesting you kept the slight shade difference Bahrain/Qatar, but not the lighter blue in Luxembourg compared to The Netherlands.

Obviously different, but Spain and Lebanon have similar propositions of horizontal bars, I’d imagine there are others.

The story behind Chad and Romania is actually kind of fun. Romania added the typical “socialist icons” to the middle of their royal flag when communism took over. Years later Chad was looking for a design and found one that was unused. 1989 rolls around, the Romanians execute their dictator on live TV and revert the flag back to the royal standard and suddenly realize they made a conflict. They had been arguing about it ever since (A romanian singer even did a song about it) =)

TIL that the flag of England is different than the flag of the UK.

….yes, I *am* an American, why do you ask?

    10. African flag starter kit:

Choose 3/4 colors: white, black, green, yellow, red

The Russian flag’s origin is hilarious: Peter the Great saw the Dutch naval jack, and liked it so much he used it for his new Russian navy, but „changed it just enough“ so that it wasn’t a direct copy.

IIRC, all the Nordic nations have a similar flag, just different colors. Denmark is the same flag, except red/white. Sweden is blue/yellow. Finland is white/blue.

    13. Some of these are intentional:

      – Puerto Rican rebels basically took the Cuban flag and switched the colors around to symbolize the bonds between them.

      – The Red Cross is Swiss originally and may have come up with its flag by reversing the Swiss flag.

      – Norway and Iceland are both examples of Nordic Cross flags (derived ultimately from the Danish flag)

      – Sudan/Palestine are both pan-Arab colors; Senegal/Cameroon are both pan-African colors; but I don’t think there are any specific relationship between those country pairs

Netherlands/Luxembourg feels like it should be intentional but doesn’t seem to be?
