What is fertility? Birth of healthy fetus? Or females getting pregnant? If people use contraceptives their fertility rate decreses? I hope it’s the birth of healthy babies/all pregnancy. Otherwise, I think such charts are made without the social, ethical, and economical factors.

The chart cites the Replacement Level of TFR as 2.1. This is taken as a reasonable rule of thumb for developed countries but the level will be materially higher for countries with higher childhood mortality.

Anyone knows why Uzbekistan has highest growth while Kyrgyzstan has steep decline?

How has Indonesia’s kept relatively higher birthrates compared to its poorer neighbours?

    6. as i’m a firm believer we’re overpopulated on earth i’d like to see that number even go lower, regardless of what economists think.

This says India FR is 1.9. If this is true, our population should start shrinking. Is the data right?

    8. The numbers for many countries are completely wrong and misleading.

My country, Norway, is one of those. Mothers gradually getting older, fucks up the calculations.

Fertility is not 1,4, the correct number is above 1,6.

20 years ago at school we were told overpopulation was the biggest concern. I miss those times.

Malta being packed and having higher fertility would probably be counterproductive!

    11. In my opinion the color palette should be reversed… Any figures below 2.1 basically mean that the country is dying… That should be red, shouldn’t it ?

    12. Based on this data, European Portuguese should surpass Spanish in the future when it comes to predominance
