    1. This is a great example of before „The Party Switch“, where Republicans and Democrats swapped ideologies somewhere around the 1940s.

      States in the South voted blue and the north voted red for decades. Then the ideology switch happened, and so did the colors on the voting map.

      Very neat!

      Eastern Tennessee and Kentucky have always been some of the United States‘ most Republican regions.
