tldr; Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy (MSTR), criticized short sellers, stating that ’nothing great has ever been created by a short seller.‘ He dismissed critiques from Jim Chanos, a prominent short seller, and emphasized the value of Bitcoin and digital assets. Despite Strategy’s stock being down 22% year-to-date, Saylor remains optimistic about the digital economy, highlighting improved industry fundamentals and investment opportunities. Over 193 public companies hold Bitcoin, though many imitators of Strategy’s approach face challenges.

    2. Lmao short sellers actually provide a significant value to markets because they keep financial markets honest and efficient. Their research often helps uncover fraud.

I mean Saylor is hedging all his bets on BTC and tries to pump the price all he can when talking about it. But he didn’t create that either

    4. He really hates that Chanos owned his stock value.

Also, short sellers have exposed corruption, fraud and embezzlement.

So short sellers have done great things.

Actually too you could say the short sellers indirectly caused GameStop to be saved by Redditors and such so much it’s financially amazingly healthy when it was really on course to go under.

In a same vein AMC and the ‘apes’ the same thing – some still see misguided that the company will explode and it won’t.. but that initial retail investment really shot the stock price up to about £60 I think at one point and some people made lots of money.

AMC rightfully did what any company would do and used this to dilute their shares, reduce credit obligations refinance and such to be much more healthier coming through the pandemic (even if they are still overshadowed by huge debt). Sadly they do rinse people too but if you were daft enough to stay around it’s going to happen.

Agree completely and have for years. Short sellers are a pox on the economy. They want things to be bad.

    8. I feel attacked. I rode MSTR presplit to 300, dumped and bought SMST.

Just riding the cycles saylor, nothing personal

    9. True, but lots of sketchy junk has been properly destroyed with short selling.. that’s kinda the whole point of short selling – expose the lies that are hiding behind a corporate veil.
