The fish diversity in the TVA is interesting.  I wouldn’t have guessed that. Is this because of the TVA?

Sad to see the great lakes are completely devoid of fish species, when did they all move to land?

Little did I know I grew up in the area with the most diverse amount of birds and reptiles in the country. I wouldn’t have guessed it

As a birder this is only encouraging me to travel to the Texas coast more often. Especially the southern points, where the tropical Mexican birds mix in. Bit of a drive from Austin but I didn’t know it was the national hotspot

The Chiricahua Mountains is southeastern Arizona are an amazing place to explore, especially if you are interested in birds. Add in the Sonoran Desert to the west and you have some of the most unique biodiversity in the US.

There’s no way the scale on some of these is accurate. The ones going down to 1 are clearly ridiculous.

    8. Apart from birds, it seems the most diverse place in the US is the border between Tennessee and North Carolina.
