Got a newsflash: this is just the start. This just forces a vote in the house, which according to the rules of the discharge petition process has to wait a week to “ripen” then the Speaker has to hold a vote within two days after the week of waiting.

Then it has to pass the Senate.

Then it goes to Trump’s desk.

Assuming the first two hurdles are passed, and assuming a veto proof 60 votes in the Senate, is anyone really delusional enough to believe that Trump won’t just defy the Senate numbers and veto anyway? And even if he doesn’t try that, Bondi will likely refuse to do what she’s ordered and legally required to do. Which will head to the courts. Then appeals. Then SCOTUS possibly.

This shit isn’t even close to over.

      Edit: 67 not 60.

These will never be released. And if they are it’ll be covered in so much blackout you won’t be able to read any of it. It’s not right, but here we are.

does this eventually go to the senate then Trump or does it just get released?

I’ll never support Boebert, Mace, MTG, or Massie, but their willingness to sign the discharge petition notwithstanding the extreme pressure I’m sure they were under not to do so has earned them a certain amount of respect in my book. I can’t believe these 4 are the only House republicans that have the ballz to stand up to Trump and his toadies.

To the other 215 House GOP members: you all should be ashamed of yourselves!

I’m neither religious nor hopeful. But please 🙏

If there were any god or justice, the vote would pass

I wonder what’s actually in those files. Could be a lot of some big names sweating?

Before people get too excited, there is still a long road ahead before the files are released. It must be voted on in the House and the Senate and signed by Trump. None of those things are guaranteed. Also, in true Democratic, snatching-defeat-from-the-jaws-of-victory, fashion, they can add a poison pill, such as ACA subsidies, that will give Republicans the opportunity to vote against the bill and still deny they are protecting a pedophile.

    8. They’re gonna vote no. I don’t know why you guys are so excited for this.

    9. They’ve had years to doctor them and this past month to double and triple check. Let’s see I guess

You know how 7 Dems and 1 Independent caved a couple of days ago for a weak bullshit promise?

Seems they needed the one vote to force this? Someone will definitely retract their signature

      Somehow nothing has been leaked?

      We aint seeing shit.

I’d like to think all this will matter. But it won’t. Conservatives are over there gnawing on trumps flaccid chode like it’s beef jerky. „He was a CIA informant.“ „He was helping the feds get Epstein!“ „Daddy did nothing wrong!“

    12. This means nothing, the Democrats can’t even stay together as a party and the files are never going to be released in full.

    13. Now we will hear crickets doing what they do because when you run the show you get to choose what is seen.

Sick of the „Nothing is going to happen“ junk going around.

A lot of these men want a future in politics and will distance themselves from this as fast as possible. This was always the plan. Trump is the dancing puppet to distract us from the people who are really running the country. They got another puppet on the couch waiting.

Cool so now we can see a paper that said what we already know. Wow so groundbreaking great job. Meanwhile gas by me just went up 50 cents for no reason. 8 Republicans wrote a provision in opening the government to pay themselves over a million each. The legal hemp industry was killed and all those jobs and were gonna be right back here arguing the same shit in January. Yay Epstein files tho. That’s really hurting the guy who’s hit his term limit 👍🏻

    16. If any democrat votes against, your country is truly finished by all accounts.

    17. Do any Republican voters actually think that Trump was perhaps involved in the whole affair? Or do they just not care?

    18. I watched her floor speech after her swearing in and how much her colleagues in the Arizona delegation just roasted the shit out of Johnson, then she came in with a fiery excoriation of her own, right before signing the petition.

She’s gonna be a great congresswoman.
