Laut Cyprus Mail gibt es jetzt eine verblüffende Zahl 40.000 Russen Vollzeitleben in den von der Republik kontrollierten Gebieten. Im Gegensatz dazu liegt die nächste Einwanderergruppe, die Briten, bei 16.000. Um das schiere Ausmaß zu verdeutlichen: Das bedeutet, dass auf jeden Briten mittlerweile über zwei Russen kommen!

Darüber hinaus gibt es pro TRT 50.000 Russen leben in den besetzten Gebieten. So viele, dass Russland begonnen hat, regelmäßige konsularische Dienste anzubieten. (Das ist sogar mehr als die Zahl der türkischen Truppen!)

Not all of them are permanent residents.
There is a post that alternates because they enter with temporary residence permits and can stay for up to three months.
However, the number is generally disproportionately large and problematic given our size.
You should be grateful because we will give you a common language and form a third constitutional community to balance the main two and solve all your grievances. I am fairly certain that British (and British Cypriots) hold more than 40,000 residential homes in Limassol and Pafos districts ALONE so I am not sure about those numbers. But it is true that the Russians are now the most dominant immigrant „force“ on the island surpassing the Brits. A stroll at Limassol will convince you, and also the fact that there are restaurants in the very heart of Limassol that only employ 1 (!) person that can speak English/Greek while the rest speak Russian can attest to that.
Interestingly, the „patriotic“ party is against the plan of limiting foreign real estate purchases… But they will still parrot the same „immigrants/refugees took our jobs“ and the people will fall for it.
What consular services is there a some kind of Russian consulate in north :S
The article you shared is from 2023, and Russia still couldn’t even provide regular consular services in the RoC, let alone in the north.
As I mentioned it before in a similar post, you will see these numbers dwindling down pretty seriously once it will be a period when these large swaths of migrated people will receive their EU passports giving freedoms of movement associated with them, and they will move on to other countries.
It’s a different question about occupied areas, but I somehow doubt people there plan to get “citizenship” and just living there as nomads for a period of time that they can.
The war in 2022 resulted in a Russian influx to Turkiye that I have never seen before. With the rise of inflation and housing crises at least half of them returned. Therefore I also expect the same happened in Northern Cyprus too and that maybe 30,000 Russians left now and not 50,000.
