    In den USA ist ein leiser, aber tragischer Anstieg der Selbstmorde bei kleinen Kindern zu verzeichnen: Bei Kindern im Alter von 8 bis 12 Jahren hat sich die Selbstmordrate seit den 2000er Jahren verdreifacht. Über alle Rassen, alle Regionen und beide Geschlechter hinweg ist die Selbstmordrate von Kindern gestiegen. Bei der überwiegenden Mehrheit der Selbstmorde von Kindern handelt es sich um Hinrichtungen.

      Not beautiful, this is horrifying. The problem is that there’s no message of hope for the future in the zeitgeist; doomerism is what sells adds, or drives clicks, or maxes engagement, or whatever.

      I hate these kinds of phrasing where they say „rates tripled“ but the rates were infinitesimal to start with. Tripled from 3 per 1,000,000 to 9 per 1,000,000, or from 0.0003% to 0.0009%, which isn’t great, but when then numbers are that small, it doesn’t take much to push them up.

      I would be interested in seeing those stats per state and compared with education rankings / mental health support rankings (*if that’s a real available data set, haven’t looked yet*).
