Musk sacked 80% of staff when he bought twitter

Bezos is sacking 14,000 people to replace with AI

Microsoft are cutting 4.1% of jobs (9,100) to replace with AI

Intel are cutting up to 25% of staff to replace with AI

What’s that about billionaires creating jobs?

    2. Not at all surprising, and a good indicator. Those who are able to benefit from AI are showing they are either actually benefiting or at least giving it a shot out of curiosity and the drive to achieve.

    3. makes sense, theyre already so used to getting others to do their work for them

Odd these comments coming out of a technology sub. I assumed all of us made 6 figures if we’re working in tech.

Reminder that not everyone earning 100K plus is a manager, seems like a few people are under the impression this is referring to cutting staff; it’s referring to usage.

    6. I definitely understand the hate that AI gets.

With that said it’s a great tool for learning, for correcting syntax, for giving skeleton frameworks.

If you’re using it as an end all be all information source you’re using it very incorrectly and probably why you all hate it so much. If you understand it’s limitations it’s an amazing tool.

I’m not even allowed to use it 🤷 and the few times I have, it failed miserably

    8. AI is mad nuts for software engineering. The AI itself is quite limited in what it can do, but its also amazing for what it does do.

I cant live without copilot. I also program in languages I dont know using copilot, ChatGPT, and Cursor AI.

Those jobs are the most likely ones to be replaced. Join or die type shit.

    10. they are the most likely to be replaced by it… so perhaps this a „know your enemy“ type thing.

It was need of the hour to have ai at least be able to write code, that is the most useless thing we do unless you are more nuanced, most web development should get automated with bug fixers and maintaining internet

The title is misleading. It’s about brand awareness, not usage, or even popularity exactly.

If you live in the US, and you make six figures in the white-collar segment, AI is coming for your job

This is simply a case of “know thy enemy”

I get encouraged to use ai and waste so much time trying to get useful results or fixing what it does

The entire purpose of AI is to replace us, so that we can die in poverty while the rich get richer than ever.

They’re absolute fools if they think hundreds of millions of people will roll over and die for their greed.

AI is nothing but glorified auto complete, and that’s fine. It’s a good tool for what it can actually do.

What the owner class actually want it to do is replace all of the workers. That it cannot do and likely never will be able to in our lifetimes. This is the rich thinking they can get away with their wildest dreams, infinite wealth while not having to deal with the poors who make all of their wealth.

    15. Yeah, CEO’s love an on-demand obedient pocket slave that tells that every damn little question they have is smart and comes up with enthusiastic dumbed down solutions in seconds (correct or not).

    16. I’m a B2B marketer who makes 6 figures – I use it daily at work to help speed things up and do my more menial and repetitive tasks as well as a copy/grammer editor. It just saves me a lot of time. If I get stuck on how to word something I use it to give me different options for tone and wording. I can kind of just feed it my stream of consciousness and say „clean this up to be used for xyz“ and then make any additional tweaks from there.

It’s like having an intern and copy editor for me

    17. No shit, Sherlock. It’s because we can afford the tokens.

Also, people working at gas stations, fast food, department stores, labor positions in factories, etc probably don’t have a need for it at work and have little to no interest outside of that

My cousin is a second year law student and a few of her professors sent out a joint letter to all of their students telling them to stop using AI for their writing assignments.

The best use of “AI” today aka llm, is to complement roles not replace them. However some roles as basic as they get can be replaced. It just depends on how intrinsic that role can be, meaning how much knowledge and skill is necessary to perform it. Skill is not replaceable with AI for now. I’m not surprised 6 figures and above has more experience with it. Primarily because it’s self preservation as well as leveraging. I use it for all sorts of things. It couldn’t replace my job but I get the fear.

    20. That’s cause the majority of people making 6+ figures are incompetent and don’t actually do any work in their day to day life, they just leech wealth from the rest of us. Obviously, this excludes a couple well paying real professions like doctors, trades, IT etc.
