I feel like it is designed to spend just enough time in Staten Island and the Bronx to check those boxes meanwhile zig zagging in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan to make it clear they had distance to spare after designing a route that hits all 5 boroughs.

There’s a part near the end (in Central Park) where the line doesn’t follow a green line! 😮
Although, it seems like there may be a mistake in the green line in central park near that area.
