This country is a prison so have they really been freed? Something to think about.

Its wild how we were all laughing off what we thought was one off, to be met by two more not long after, and then to find out its actually been in the hundreds for a while.
I can only hope is just a part of hazing for new comers: „oh yeah Jake, we should totally release that murderer early 😉“

It’s a lot but it’s tracking to be a lot lower than it’s peak that it’s falling from.

Funny how the media are reporting this now even thou its been a issue for decades

That’s actually a significant decrease on last year, when 262 prisoners were accidentally released over a 12-month period.

How can they be freed in error?
I’d really like to know, as this isn’t a system error as more would be set free.

Aren’t there tons of checks and stuff they have to do before releasing prisoners? How is this happening so often?

If there is a consistent number of prisoners being freed yearly then it is not an error its part of the design.

It’s newsworthy now so it’ll be reported even though it’s happened for years lol

OK. What’s the rate of erroneous releases look like over the past 15 years?

There’s always been a number but this is double historic figures which is alarming. Not like the cabinet is releasing them though, people are acting a bit silly.

Every time I read a headline on this saga I’m reminded of the bit from Brasseye
> Last month the notorious paedophile Sidney Cooke was blasted into space to spend the rest of his life aboard a one-man prison vessel, posing no further threat to children on Earth. But it was revealed that an eight-year-old boy was also placed on board by mistake, and is now trapped alone in space with the monster. A spokesman said: ‘This is the one thing we didn’t want to happen.’

It’s a great advertisement for a society. „Don’t do crimes or we might investigate. If we investigate, we might catch you. If we catch you, we might charge you. If we charge you, then we might convict you. If we convict you, we might imprison you for some of the sentence“.

I feel like this is by purpose. They want to install digital ids “to keep you safe” now. Create the problem, provide a solution which chips away your freedom.
