    1. That’s fantastic news, if it holds out. Their emissions couldn’t keep going up forever, with their aggressive expansion of solar and wind, and to some extent nuclear. For a long time their energy use was just increasing faster than they could even expand low-carbon energy, but energy use per capita doesn’t keep spiraling up forever. Particularly with their high BEV market share, large mass transit systems, etc. Both of which are much more energy-efficient than ICE vehicles.

      Chinese economy is struggling for 2 years almost. Surprisingly in the other direction compared to us, deflation instead of inflation. I imagine this has something to do with it, as producer prices have been bad for years now (falling), combined with investment in solar.

      Except they keep building grips of coal plants in other countries with their One Road initiative.

      This is moot.

    4. Yeah they use solar and wind more but not for enviromental reasons but purely startegic reasons. Since their coast can suffer a blockade very easily.
