Yeah, we all know. Schumer only cares about what his fictitious Trump supporting friends think instead of the people in his own party

      >Senator Jeanne Shaheen revealed that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer knew the entire time about the plan for a few Democrats to capitulate to Republicans on the government shutdown.

      >Shaheen, one of the seven Democrats (and one independent) who dropped their demand for a guaranteed extension of Obamacare subsidies, spoke to Fox News’s Brian Kilmeade on Monday morning.

      >“Senator Chuck Schumer, your leader in the Senate, said ‘I cannot support a continuing resolution that fails to address health care, I am voting no.’ Did you do this outside leadership, and was there a big push for you not to join the others and break the 60 threshold?” Kilmeade asked.

      >“No, we kept leadership informed throughout,” Shaheen responded. “And I think it’s important to remember who’s responsible for why we got into this shutdown. We are here because we are concerned about the health care costs rising significantly on millions of Americans, and we didn’t have any indication before the shutdown started that our Republican colleagues were willing to address it.”

Any Democratic senator that isn’t screaming for Schumer’s head and forcing a vote to kick him out as minority leader is complicit.

    5. The headline claims he got thrown under the bus… The senator said said he knew about it and objected to it… Which by my recollection contradicts nothing that isn’t already publicly known.

That doesn’t seem like the conspiratorial shit they’re trying to make it out to be.

Give a call to your senators to ask for Schumer to be removed as minority leader. It takes about 30 seconds to do, and holds more credence than a email.

When I called I made sure to tell them that I was a registered voter, member of their party, and frequent donor. Chuck Schumer had proved a ineffectual leader who could not even corral his whip for a vote of this magnitude.

    7. Her job is to solve the problems of the American people. She failed and has made everyone’s lives worse. We all suffered for 40+ days for NOTHING.

We know that the GOP did not want to address the needs of the American people, so you make them own the pain. But instead, you bailed them out.

Schumer and the cowardly eight need to go yesterday.

    8. Call your local senator or representative. I just did my two senators thanking them for voting NO yesterday and they need to put pressure on their peers to vote NO and hold strong until we get permanent Obamacare subsidies. One answered and was helpful to pass along and the other I left a message. I used this link from .gov to obtain the #

    9. Yes, and? Either he knew and helped orchestrate it, he knew but was powerless to prevent it, or he was unaware of what several members of his caucus were up to. None of those possibilities make him look like someone who should be the Minority Leader.

During the last week, I have repeatedly said Schumer was caving to the Republicans. Each and every time I was bashed by people on r/politics.

I am vindicated!! Schumer did know and agreed to the caving. He spoke against and voted against the motion to cover his ass!!

Shaheen doesn’t say it, but this may have been Schumer’s plan from the beginning. I believe it was.

He is an ass. He is a weak leader and needs to be voted out as minority leader. And then, primaried out of politics!!

None of these “Decorum Democrats” will be up for reelection next year either… Donald Trump has no plans to leave the White House, with its new ballroom and bathrooms, in 2028 and the “threat” of primary elections is no longer sufficient. These defeatist Democrats need to be intensely pressured, now, to resign immediately:

      Angus King (Maine): age 81

      Tim Kaine (Virginia): age 67

      Dick Durbin (Illinois): age 80

      John Fetterman (Pennsylvania): age 55

Maggie Hassan (New Hampshire): age 67

Jeanne Shaheen (New Hampshire): age 78

Catherine Cortez Masto (Nevada): age 61

      Jacky Rosen (Nevada): age 68

Ofc he knew. All of us knew we could only count on Schumer for so long. I believe this comes down to billionaires wanted to use their private jets and the shutdown was starting to mess with that. Subpoenae Schumer

The last paragraph is the most important:

      >Aside from serving as further proof that the Democrats are failing to act as an opposition party in any meaningful way, Shaheen’s comments also reveal one of two possible scenarios. Either Schumer was scheming to end the shutdown behind the scenes, only pretending to be against it while pinning the blame on the eight people who aren’t up for reelection anytime soon, or he has no control over his party. Either way, it proves the need for Democrats to jettison the minority leader.

    14. Email or call your senators and inform them you will not donate to the democratic party until leadership is changed in the Senate. Particularly centrist/moderate leadership.

I 100% believe that Schumer not only knew but gave the greenlight and secretly wanted this. Mostly because of Dick Durbin. I just don’t see him defying Schummer. He is not running again ands his seat is a pretty safe for democrats. I think Schumer thought this was the best time to get out but wanted it to seem like the democratic party was folding, just some rogue senators. So he told a few of the older, likely to retire or primaried senatos to vote for it, allwhile seemingly keeping his hands clean.

The Senate minority leader was fully briefed on all negotiations.

    18. I fucking hate both of my senators. When I called her office one of Shaheen’s staffers actually called back to ask me about the ACA tax credits and why I needed them. Apparently that meant nothing to her.

    19. StandupJetskier on

The eight are either resigning or next election is a few years off. „safe“ senators crossed.

Schumer is clearly run by the same folks who run the GOP.

Dems were ready for a fight. Let the GOP wreck it all….

It’s OK honey, I swear I’ll never hit you again, unless you make me…
