Das Bananenbrot wird verrückt.⁣

    Laut Forbes ist die Savannah Bananas-Organisation rund 500 Millionen US-Dollar wert, was etwa der Hälfte des Nettovermögens einiger MLB-Teams entspricht.⁣

    Die Bananas – und andere Teams innerhalb derselben Organisation – werden in diesem Jahr einen Umsatz von mehr als 100 Millionen US-Dollar erzielen, hauptsächlich dank Merchandising und Ticketverkäufen. Laut Forbes wird die Organisation auch einen Gewinn erwirtschaften, während elf MLB-Vereine in der vergangenen Saison Verluste verzeichneten.⁣

    Es ist möglich, dass das Geschäft der Bananen noch reifer wird. Die Organisation fügt zwei neue Expansionsteams hinzu, die eine längere Ligasaison ermöglichen werden.⁣

    Eigentümer Jesse Cole sagte, er sei von Interessenten angesprochen worden, die die Organisation mit einer Milliarde US-Dollar bewerteten. Aber er hat nicht vor, sich in absehbarer Zeit von den Früchten seiner Arbeit zu trennen, da er sich derzeit darauf konzentriere, den Fans ein gutes Erlebnis zu bieten.⁣

    1. It’s a fun show, but it’s tough to believe it’ll have much staying power. A decade of fun maybe, then you gotta make banana bread.

    2. I get it, but not sure they can be compared to MLB teams. It’s not really a sports league, more like an experience tour, akin to music or other non competitive experiences.

      I suppose that’s one way to interpret the data. I look at that and see that they’re not worth anywhere near as much as the least valuable MLB franchise.

      National TV deals are a huge thing, and the Bananas don’t have one. (EDIT: apparently they do, but nothing comparing to the revenue numbers of MLB)

      Stanley Cup of sports entertainment. apparent fear of missing out + scarcity tell me not to participate.

    5. The Marlins being worth $1.05B, while being purchased just 8 years ago for $1.2B is amusing to me… it means they drastically overpaid, or lost significant value in the decisions they made.

      Franchises that do nothing right still make money and go up in value over time lol
