What about that deficit that they talk about so much for democrats but add to the most? It’s irrelevant if he does this, isn’t it?

What about no hand out culture?

If he doesn’t do it, it’s the just usual lies on Sunday morning when he should be at church as a Christian man

THIS IS NOT HOW CUTTING THE DEFICIT WORKS. Republican “budget hawks” do not care about the deficit.

This would be a Trump-branded redistribution of your own money to try to buy votes that does nothing meaningful to address wages, benefits, or affordability. Quite the contrary, when every American gets an extra $2k it’s probably going to push inflation up.

Trump’s social media post before the Supreme Court ruling is some real The Joker level disruptive behavior. Trump seemingly wants to make the tariff case even more precarious for the Supreme Court, who, if they rule against him, will be seen by low-information voters as blocking the next round of “Trump checks.”

It’s to firm up his base. He sent out checks in his first term (which definitely wasn’t socialism) and during the election promised more checks to his followers… which never came.

Now that he’s promising those checks (probably in 2 weeks) he’ll string them along until he tells them he can only send the checks out if the GOP wins the midterms.

He made a similar promise on middle class tax cuts but only if the GOP won the 2018 midterms, then never did anything about it.

      Someone give him this:

      [https://www.reddit.com/r/SwitzerlandFirst/comments/1oode9b/countries_with_the_best_reputation_2025/](https://www.reddit.com/r/SwitzerlandFirst/comments/1oode9b/countries_with_the_best_reputation_2025/)

In particular, look at the *massive* decline of the US rating…

Also, as per U.S. Census Bureau, as of July 1 2024, the adult (18+) population was about 258.3 million. Let’s exclude the 8.3 million very wealthy 😉

      250m people * $2k per person = **$500 billion.**

      Sure, mate.

      He used the word „some“
That because no checks to be going out. He’s gaslighting his base again. And they fall for it all the time

I’d rather have affordable health care and hungry Americans fed. That’s what I pay taxes for.

    7. Rude-Strawberry-6360 on

So now he’s just going to try to buy off the electorate for $2k?

    8. joekerr9999 on

And like all of Trump’s promises they will be unfulfilled and replaced with lies.

    9. Lies like this are how Trump got into office. They apparently work when said by an opposition candidate in the out party. They don’t work for a sitting president when he can’t deliver.

The weight of his shell game is going to tear down his administration, MAGA, and the Republican party. In a couple of years everything under those brands will be radioactive, glowing shit stains.

I would much rather that my spouse get paid for the work he’s doing, you absolute jackhole.

    11. SmoothJazziz1 on

He can pay $2K to every citizen but can’t pay SNAP benefits. got it.

    12. yellowleaf01 on

I thought the tariffs were going to be used to eliminate income taxes for middle class

    13. TheRealJenneJ on

      >The whole thing is ridiculous! Other Countries can Tariff us, but we can’t Tariff them???

Of course they can be tariffed. It just has to be done by Congress. Idiot.

    14. AndHank-Mardukas on

Far from a mathematician, but that doesn’t seem to add up.

$195 billion in tariff income to the govt
Call it 200 million eligible adults in the county
$2000 each would be $400 billion. Not to mention administrative costs to issue checks to 200 million people.

    15. how about you take the 1 year ACA subsidy proposal by the Democrats and reopen the government instead.

    16. So, just to remind you guys, he did this during Covid, it changed nothing because 2000 doesn’t fix your groceries being 40% higher, your rent being 40% of your net income per month, your electricity being an extra 10% a month, or your health care being completely unaffordable or home ownership being unreachable because of unrestricting renting denying 80% of people that started working after 2010 the ability to save for a down payment because their rent goes up higher than inflation or their wages every single year to feed landlords.

    17. I can’t believe there were people that thought this man was smart in 2016, let alone that there are still people hanging on to this idea in 2025. Studies will be done and psychology classes will be taught on the Trump phenomenon and how a significant percentage of Americans got even dumber than normal for ten years or so.

    18. shastadakota on

So it causes inflation, and we are back to square one, but now owe taxes on the $2000. Got it.

    19. esoteric_enigma on

So we have money to give everyone $2k for nothing…but we don’t have money to feed hungry children through SNAP?

    20. There’s a lot of good points in the comments but don’t forget one key fact: the $2000 checks he’s promising to give us would be money that came FROM us to support increased corporate profits.

He’s just offering to give us a little bit of our own money back.

    21. boogerzzzzz on

Oh I remember this tactic during COVID and then had to repay it as a loan during taxes.
