Because if they seem to care they would have to do something.
Apparently it’s worse in Frankfurt or London so keep your facts and logic to yourself. I’ve been around this Reddit for a while, I said 5 years ago this is a big problem for a country like Luxembourg and I was attacked and told to touch grass 🤣.
Now we have facts, daily aggression and a serious deterioration of the country. Robbery is becoming a national sport here. I’m seeing neighbours putting metal spikes at windows and cameras everywhere.
What happened during that period. A lot of european cities gradually worsened during the last decade
What’s listed as the causes of the increase? Is it the increase in homelessness, the increase in financial instability? Increase in population? How does 2020s “slight” decrease go with Covid regulations? These are just numbers, in order to address a problem, we need more. Numbers only go so far.
Because people, especially here on Reddit, get mad when we point out **why** the rise in crime is happening 🙂
Can we get the same stats per 1000 inhabitants?
Reasons are known but …
I don’t know if „no one“ is taking it seriously. But as usual reality is a bit more difficult than just pointing at a handful of numbers.
First, you need to take the big population growth into account. In that time period it went up by 37%. So in fact it’s a 50% increase instead of a doubling. That’s still bad, don’t get me wrong, but it makes a big difference.
Secondly, these numbers don’t tell you anything about the reason. And without that, they don’t mean much. What we see here is a symptom, not the root cause.
I’m all for getting these numbers down. Luckily I haven’t been affected yet, but just reading constantly about the crime in the news makes me depressed.
But it’s difficult to properly discuss something like this because it often ends up with some black and white arguments. People like easy solutions to difficult problems.
