Its the right thing to do
What is the amount they would pay?
Hrm. Social Security isn’t a „free benefit“. You pay through the course of your lifetime in every. single. paycheck. Until you start to draw it after you retire. From the article:
„…[]impose a „minimum contribution“ on foreign retirees who benefit from universal healthcare coverage after just three months of living in France.“
So… I guess that means that they are looking at this as a „loophole“ used by retirees for „free“ healthcare? If not, then I don’t understand the logic; aren’t these people still paying taxes for property, sales, etc. to France?
How long before maga freaking out from their trailer in Oklahoma thinking France taxing their SS benefits.
Can any American just retire to France and enjoy free healthcare or do they need to apply for special visa?
I’m a stupid American. Are you telling me that if I move to France I get free healthcare after just three months of being a resident, no matter my age or circumstance?
How about not giving free healthcare and benefits to non citizens in the first place? Seems like a pretty bad policy that isn’t sustainable
I don’t think the American retirees moving to France are living off of social security.
I would think that a person could pay possibly with a large cash contribution or buy private insurance. I don’t think it is fair to have the French tax payer pay for a non citizens health care.
We subsidize our retirement and they retirement
very good
Make it illegal to pay tax to another country of you live there… one or the other.
Seems reasonable
