For all the warnings from Redditors I see about this guy, every time he’s in the news he’s in the news for making his country better. „Dictator forces bus companies to offer free rides following major infrastructure fail in country“ doesn’t really give credence to the alarmists.

Bukele is a global puppet who has used security to pacify the long victimized population against his abuses, and when it all boils over eventually he will flee abroad with billions.

It’s also a great time to vacation in El Salvador if you fled to America in the 90s and never got a chance to see the country.

On Sunday, Bukele had announced via X that all bus fares for a week would be completely free due to construction the government was carrying out on one of the main highways running through San Salvador.

Seems like bus company needs some ass whopping

    4. While the country may be a little ‘corrupt’ and Bukele looks and acts like a dictator to outside nations, this is the safest the country has been in years.

My family fled the country in the ‘70s and ‘80s and in the 2000s when I visited we were not able to be outside in the big cities after dusk because your life was in literal danger.

I remember at one point gang members set up road blocks to specifically stop buses to extort passengers and if they wouldn’t comply they would be murdered in horrific ways.

Not saying what he’s doing is great, but the country loves him because there are no more threats of gangs in the country. And yes I know that the judicial system there is un-democratic as fuck and the super prison there is inhumane, but that’s another conversation.
