      Scots is so often overlooked, even here in Scotland, so its great to see it included here. 

      There is actually a fair amount of anger among certain groups at the Scottish local government, as it is felt they deliberately support Gaelic over the language.  

      *(edit)* its shocking how many people are trying to tell me my language is just English, for those people I’d love you to tell me what he’s saying [here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Or86G-2KIHU&pp=0gcJCR4Bo7VqN5tD).

      Scots is definitely spoken more widespread than that. I was raised on Scots, and everyone in my town spoke Scots, in the Lothians.

      I think the title is pretty inaccurate, or there should be a damn sight more detail in the shading. Percentages matter, as none of those areas are 100% either way. It would probably be good to be citing some kind of source.

      In 200 years the whole world will probablu look like the British Isles, majority English speaking with just some remnants of historical languages scattered around.

      Some of my Irish mates would really get upset with the term British isles. They call it North Atlantic Archipelago

      What is this portraying?

      Because it makes no sense for Wales.

      It’s not the majority, as that isn’t accurate.

      It’s not a certain amount of speakers, as Cardiff has more than other areas where it is the majority, purely because of the population overall.

      So not sure what it’s supposed to be showing.

      We’re ignoring all the other languages like cornish then, and Wales teaches the language in schools. It should be the whole country.

      English is the „main“ language everywhere.

      Putting British isles in all caps is basically begging me to argue against the term. It’s a colonial relic and is not used by the governments of either Ireland or the United Kingdom.

      And yes, the people living in a region do get to decide what that region is called.

      Maybe a stupid question, but in north eastern Scotland do they literally speak in a different dialect that is hard to understand from English?

      Manx has native speakers and Cornish has too, both are forgotten on this map

      I’m colourblind. Everything other than Scots and Welsh just looks the same to me, is there a version I could read?

      Has anyone met an Irish/Welsh or Scots person who, outside the UK, doesnt speak clear if amusingly accented English? Cos I never have.
