When you repeatedly declare that you have non-negotiable demands you are basically slamming the door shut on negotiations if the other party is not willing to give in on those demands.

      >**[The Bloc] released six non-negotiable conditions** to vote for the Liberals’ budget on Oct. 14. Those were: an $11.6-billion increase over five years for federal health transfers to provinces; $814-million paid to Quebec as compensation for Ottawa’s move to end the carbon pricing charge; applying the 10-per-cent Old Age Security benefit boost to people aged 65 to 74, not just those aged 75 and older; interest-free loans for up to $20,000 for first-time homebuyers; a new provincial infrastructure transfer program; and $1.4-billion a year for more social housing transfers. The party listed an additional 12 demands at the time.

“We demanded that we get to rewrite half the budget or add $15-20 billion to the deficit, can you believe how unreasonable those other guys are being?”

There has to be one nice juicy pork barrel the NDP could get behind.

Like cancel the cuts and official party status.
