
Das ganze Gerede über Gerrymandering in letzter Zeit lässt mich an meinen Heimatstaat denken. Zugegebenermaßen ist es dort insgesamt nicht dicht und es gibt keine größeren Städte. Aber es ist für mich interessant, dass sie in WV vollständige Landkreise verwenden. Gibt es andere Staaten, die eine ähnliche Methode verfolgen?

Iowa is the only other state that does not split counties or county equivalents for its congressional districts, apart from states with just a single district, of course.

It’s partly due to gerrymandering but also the requirements to have close to an equal amount of population per district so if you have a large city, it may get split up for those reasons.
Edit: Talking about in general not wv specific.
How can they keep track of it?
California tries. Obviously we have to split because of population density and our counties started out as pretty big, but the rule the Citizens’ Redistricting Commission sticks to is that, wherever possible, try to go by county lines.
