I think this could be the biggest turn of Congress during a mid term election since 2010 after Congress passed the ACA. Back then Congress flipped because people were angry 40 million Americans would be able to afford basic health insurance using government subsidies.
We’re way past that level of disapproval and have another year for this Administration to throw gas on the fire.

The Senate and House will be retaken in 2026, Trump will become a lame duck president for the remainder of his term

AOC needs to primary Schumer. I’ll donate to her run, and I don’t live in NY.

They need to run on getting rid of citizens United, increasing minimum wage with guarantees on it increasing every year with inflation, making DC and Puerto Rico states, codifying the gay marriage and a woman’s choice, and implementing smart tax reform that helps the workers and forces the ultra wealthy to pay their fair share of taxes.
Unfortunately, the established core of Dems already in power like how things are too much to truly want change that matters.

What we are gonna need to do is run a lot of independents who are gonna have to be framed as change candidates. That is they say they won’t vote for Schumer as speaker (maybe another Democrat). The same is true for democrats in tough races like the senate nominees for Alaska, Ohio, Maine, and North Carolina. The senate is very winnable and we aren’t going to fix the democratic brand internally before then, but elections themselves is how the brand changes. Also, we need to stop forcing candidates on areas that they don’t represent. Some places can get a democratic socialist, some places get the working class union guy, and some places get the CIA national security moderate where everyone across the country feels included.

I’m wondering if it’s too difficult to overcome this cycle. Bob Casey losing in Pennsylvania by that micro razor margin REALLY hurt Dems chances at taking back the senate this election cycle. That Green Party candidate accomplished her goal of siphoning off enough votes for him to lose.

Dems have to win the Senate in 2026. Otherwise, Republicans will lock in the Supreme Court for 30+ years. If Dems win the Senate, they can actually take back control of SCOTUS once Thomas and Alito (and probably even Roberts soon) retire

Democrats have a chance to take the Senate, but only if the party gets off its collective ass in ruby red districts across the country.
Town halls, press avails, none of that is too expensive, and unless Dems are out there, talking about the issues that matter to those voters, we’ll never have a shot at the Senate.
We have to play the long game, and that means work on the ground, everywhere.

Every candidate that won on Tuesday was younger than me, and I support that 100%. Our ways are the old ways and they’ve had their time. Us old farts need to sit the fuck down and let you youngers run with it and I’ll happily vote alongside you.

IDK, man. The Democratic establishment has a near mythical talent for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Them fuckers could lose a foot race to Christopher Reeves.

If I were running things at the DNC, I would already have mandated and implemented across the board a 50-State Strategy to properly run, promote, and financially and literally support progressive/working-class and pro-human rights candidates across the country over the political establishment’s picks.
Here are several Senate candidates whom I think would make for excellent additions to the U.S. Senate:
Must-Holds/Pick-Up Opportunities
1. Iowa – Nathan Sage (Democratic Candidate)
2. Maine – Graham Platner (Democratic Challenger)
3. Michigan – Abdul El-Sayed (Democratic Candidate)
