So taxing the rich? I’m all for it! And if you make 300k a year I’m sure it’s not a huge deficit
This is the new federalism. After the Republicans gut the federal welfare system, some states will fund their safety nets, some will not. There will be a lot of suffering and displacement, but the dream of being „business friendly“ enough to compete with South Asia for labor prices is bound to fail.

Its astounding to see how all these billionaires are mad at just 2% extra tax on profit. Dude, the amount of wealth you have, even your 14th generation won’t be able to spend it in their lifetime.
Though I’m all for taxing the rich, this affects high w2 earners the most – doctors, lawyers, engineers. This is the highest taxed (by percentage) group in the US. This doesn’t tax the uber wealthy that have such an elaborate way to avoid paying their fair share.
Decent start, but a lot more needs to be done. They should really be implementing this tax on every person and/or household that brings in 100k+. We need to be taxing all of the rich, not just the ultra wealthy.
I wasn’t surprised. Not only does the state get bluer every year, but the ballot had a little table printed on it that broke down who was and wasn’t getting taxed extra and how much the extra tax would be. It’s a little less than $500 extra if you’re making over $300K/year. It also helps that the free school breakfasts and lunches have been popular.
What is interesting is that the „Yes“ votes are leading in parts of our Trump country. Weld is currently at Yes but the margin is so tight it could go either way at this point. But Pueblo, Mesa, and El Paso are all at Yes and likely to stay there. My take home is you can convince people to tax the rich for the greater good if 1) that greater good is something obvious and 2) you break it down for them.
Feeding children should be a priority regardless of your political affiliation.
More than half the people I talk to still refuse to understand that increasing taxes on the rich in a marginal tax system isn’t going to ruin them.
Queue Fox News trying to convince 7 year-olds that their school lunches don’t taste as good because they “didn’t earn it.”

Households earning 300k?! That’s not that much. 100k gets you comfortable in a few areas so I hope this is reflective of the average income in Colorado.

That’s unnatural, and I bear true hatred for anyone who has so much and yet chooses to not help the rest of the world in any effective way.
If they won’t save us from problems they exacerbate, they deserve no sympathy when their victims take peaceful remedies into their own hands.
There’s a difference between wealth and income.
In the US, wealth is *much* more skewed than income.
What would make the Billionaires laugh their asses off, is if the US enacted a bunch of taxes on income and not on wealth. We’ll make it less lucrative to be a Doctor, Dentist, or Software Engineer, without affecting the people who actually own everything.
Note: I’m not opposed to this tax… just to the idea that we should address inequality by making it more financially ridiculous to become a Dr etc.
The folks making over $300k? How much does this impact them and what percentage of them are over the percentage that makes less than that? I make okay money to live but that is an amount that is unimaginable amount to me.
