I don’t think there’s any chance the CPC lets this budget fail now, this is such a bad look for them and definitely weakens them in an election. There is absolutely no way to spin this to be a good thing, and it’s absolutely golden campaign material for the LPC.
I suspect it’s more likely than not that there will be at least a couple more defections. This doesn’t seem like a move one takes when there’s a minority government that is at risk of being toppled and you now have to campaign in your riding as a lone defector.
Canada has spent $574.2 million for the federal election and another $1 million on the by election so that PP can „win“ his sure seat after the original guy vacated.
No one wants to see another election in the near future.
Another election would just be opportunistic. Right now we need to build. I’m glad some conservatives are starting to see that. I don’t see any chance of an election now until 2029.
It’s so stupid our system allows this happen. If a sitting MP wants to switch parties it should force a by-election in the rising.
