It’s not just oil, they have a ton of gold and diamond. Maduro lost the last two elections, but refused to give up power. The U.S., Brazil, and Columbia recognize the opposition as the actual winner of the last election. The Venezuela / Guyana border has been long contested, and I read Maduro has been threatening Guyana as well as Trinidad (have to fact check that, but I’ve seen it come up in multiple instances). The administration could have so easily played the good guy, and used „protecting democracy“ and „saving the country from a brutal dictator“ and „Providing stability to the region.“ But this administration is so corrupt and incompetant, they didn’t even consider it. They must have just thought south of the border = Narcos, and rolled with it.

It wouldn’t be hard for the U.S. military to decimate Madura’s forces if they wanted to. But it would be the signal to every other strong man leader that it’s open season on whomever they want to invade. Taiwan would likely be next. There would be no way to stop Russia from doubling down on Ukraine (and any other neighbors Putin wanted to take down.) Israel would feel free to simply demolish the remnants of Palestine. North Korea might feel a little peckish for South Korea. Several countries in the Middle East might get hungry. It’s a big list.

Trump likes to pick foes that are easily beaten so he can call something a big win. But he might find himself at the center of a global conflict he can’t control.

all propaganda. usa and trump want the minerals and oil there and they want to force a regime change to get a corrupt slave as the new leader so as to open up venezuelas resources and destroy their nature reserves. trump is just a money hungry pig acting in the interests of big business. he lies and abuses his power as president, he does big business favours, and they pay him illegally somehow through 1 vehicle or another. its that simple.. and many dumb americans cheer him on and on. 25 to 30perc of all countries in world have rigged elections and yet we dont see america threatening to invade them all as a ‚good cop‘ . Do american troops land all over africa to make fair elections? God no!. its all driven by business power and control. usa is doomed unless they ban lobbying, and many other countries will fail too, with similar models whereby lobbyists, party donaters and corporate cockroaches can hang around politicians like a bad smell. there should be cap on donations. Corporations need to pay full tax . the ratpack rig there taxbills with offshore companies and creative accounting. Hey USA forget about venezuela. and pull out the weeds from ur own garden and clean the cesspool of ur own corrupt country and set a better example. If trump was truly serious about the gangs and drug problem as is being labelled in venezuela, he would have already invaded mexico first and whiped out all the cartels that are drug mules/couriers etc.. and he would have helped americans with drug problems and better enforcement to deter drug smugglers. and then if neccesary consider any soveignty risk coming out of venezuela. Americans are the largest demand base for drugs probably in the world. sort that issue out trump get ur own citizens off drugs! sort out all the ppl and groups in usa on home soil that are supporting the drug trade first. and the couriers. devalue the price of stuff by in some cases legalising it only for the purpose to push prices down making it less viable to farmers to grow alot of the stuff. its also ridiculous that usa has privatised its jails and they arent govt run. its seems usa arent interested in rehabilitating its own citizens. USA has the highest incarceration rate in the world, its no wonder when citizens can profit from having shares in jails. and it also seems to serve someones agenda in usa that as many ppl as possible have drug addictions to line other pples pockets and the like. if they are desperate for rare earth minerals from venezuela why dont they offer deals respectfully and offer excellent environmental restoration resources unlike bhopal india, instead of trying denegrate a ppl.
