      I think belgium also contributed to post war security and reconstruction in Iraq… I know the country would be barely visible on this map, but still…

      The first Gulf War is interesting as it’s a rare example of the UN working exactly as first imagined. 

      1. Naked act of aggression from a dictator
      2. UN Security Council authorises collective self defence
      3. International coalition removes the aggressor from the territory they invaded. 

      Whereas 2003 was the exact opposite of what people envisaged.
