My brain just blue-screened trying to figure out if my hometown is a Civil Township or a Plausation. This map is why we can’t have nice, simple things.

IDK if it’s true in states outside CA, but u incorporated areas (not cities) are actually governed more directly by the county government than incorporated parts of the county. Land use, for example.

Why must the US be so complicated? Fifty states, each with their own interests, acting like bumper cars. THEN, we have to deal with these crazy, varied, subordinate jurisdictional entities, Oi vay!

    4. In Nevada we have GID’s – General Improvement Districts

This allows theGID to dcide what services they get from the county and what they fund, and manage, independently.
