The chief lawyer of Israel’s military has been arrested after admitting she authorized leaking a video of reservist soldiers abusing a Palestinian prisoner — and lied to the Supreme Court about it.

Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi became the center of national attention Sunday night when her car was found by a beach and she was deemed missing, raising concerns she’d committed suicide. She was found after several hours and placed under arrest.

To clarify, she was arrested more or less for perjury. She would’ve been protected as a whistle blower if she just leaked the video. She lied about having been the one to do so under oath in court and is now facing charges for that. Now is the government motivated to charge her moreso because of the leak? Yes. But she is not being arrested for leaking the video.

She’s not under arrest for the leak. Or rather, its a small part. She’s under arrest for faulty prosecution practices like setting up a false investigation about the leak, and lying about it in the supreme court.

They are quick to arrest her for exposing crimes of soldiers, yet Jewish settlers that terrorise Palestinians in the WB are untouchable. I fear that Israel is becoming a fascist state.
