Kind of a strange claim. Like neat that they did the science, but on brand new sterile volcanic flows they find plants and animals within a few years. There would have been microbial life in an impact crater as soon as the surface cooled, there’s random bits of life being blown around by the wind. Probably closer to 4 weeks than 4 million years.

    2. Four million years is a long-ass time. It doesn’t seem surprising that bacteria would move into the crater as soon as the temperature was habitable. Bacteria can travel, many are airborne.

There’s a crater in Arizona that’s like 50k years old and is full of bushes and trees. This headline makes no sense.
