These restorations are important but lets not pretend they happen in a vacuum. The EU and UN fund heritage projects in the GC side while Ankara’s regime continues to erase churches and cemeteries in the north. Respecting shared heritage should go both ways, not just when it makes good headlines

Fun fact:

The Tochni mosque doesn’t have a minaret. There’s a local folk story that says St. Helena was coming at night to destroy the minaret whenever the Muslims tried to build one.
