As nefarious cloak-and-dagger deals go, this sounds surprisingly wholesome.
I know it has all the dog whistles of Epstein, Barak, Putin and the Intelligence agencies, but backchannel diplomacy to end the civil war in Syria is not what I imagined The Cabal/Lizard People/Illuminati would opt for.
