    1. They are probably testing NATO’s detection and reaction time capabilities.

      Interesting to know that the Geneva Conventions allows disabling IFF transponder as a ruse of war as long it’s not perfidy ([Article 37 of Additional Protocol I](https://ihl-databases.icrc.org/en/ihl-treaties/api-1977/article-37): an act that betrays protected status, for example, a perfidy in this context would be to turns off the IFF transponder and mimics the electronic profiles and flight behavior of a civilian medical evacuation aircraft, or broadcasts a false transponder code identifying it as such, so we refrain to attacking and once it’s close enough, the disguised jet launches weapons against us).

      Transponders off cus the planes broken and they don’t have parts. /s maybe

    4. I mean it wouldn’t be a very effective spy plane with the transporter turned on.
