    1. Went totally unnoticed in the news. Trump has been really upping his use of force and shows no sign of seeking authorization for any of these strikes either. So much for the president of peace.

    2. Al-Shabab are an approximately 100 times larger threat to Somalia and to the wider region / the world.

      ISIS in Somalia is a largely insignificant group incapable of staging large scale attacks inside or outside Somalia.

      Al-Shabab on the other hand are still thousands of fighters strong, still control vast swathes of land, have withstood almost two decades of Somali government assaults, foreign intervention by many thousands of AMISOM troops, hundreds of US drone strikes etc…

      Al-Shabab has been providing most of the funding for Al-Qaeda central in Afghanistan and Pakistan for *at least* the past five years, not to mention the majority of funding for the majority of Al-Qaeda affiliates around the world.
