    1. Far be it for me to tell a nation how to manage their affairs but you’d think a nation of 1.4B people and growing wouldn’t be putting restrictions and additional costs on food imports.

      There are 200 malnourished people in India.

      So let’s have the Indian government make a staple crop 30 per cent more expensive.

      Until December 2023 there was a 50% tariff for years. Lifting the duty was a temporary measure that was extended 8 times. I feel like that’s reasonably important context that should be in the article.
