The Poseidon, named after the Greek god of the sea, is a nuclear-tipped, strategic-range weapon, somewhere between a torpedo and a drone. It is powered by a small nuclear reactor, which gives it unlimited range.
“There is nothing like this,” Putin said, while visiting wounded soldiers at a hospital in Moscow.
“For the first time, we managed not only to launch it with a launch engine from a carrier submarine, but also to launch the nuclear power unit on which this device passed a certain amount of time,” he said.
The announcement came just days after the Russian President announced a successful test of the [Burevestnik](https://inews.co.uk/news/world/putin-nuclear-weapons-sabre-rattling-russia-weaknesses-4007284?ico=in-line_link), a nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed cruise missile, and a week after Russia held [nuclear launch drills](https://inews.co.uk/topic/nuclear-weapons?srsltid=AfmBOoqcxZ3pyLnzhx_vnR8cQ5ArL7tbMIKER_qeKkWb4DSxNR97WdGp&ico=in-line_link).
However, with little verified information and a proliferation of wild claims about its capabilities – many being pushed by the Kremlin – experts warn that any talk about Poseidon must be treated with caution.
We should be just as worried about any billionaire running things..they have the means to do whatever they want at any cost. Has been the same throughout history, even before ‚doomsday‘ torpedos and nuclear weapons. Maybe governments should start capping wealthy to prevent this…Nah, that is just foolish talk

The invincible unstoppable Russian doomsday weapon is an old tired retread. 99% well written and effectively disseminated propaganda, 1% soviet era fission device welded in to an oversized torpedo.
Any state capable of destroying Moscow abd st Petersburg has the capacity to end Russia as a functioning state. Given that attacking literally anyone with a nuclear capability would be suicide, why exactly should anyone be intimidated by Russian first strike capabilities? They’re just wasting money while their troops in ukraine rush into ukranian machine gun fire wearing cardboard.
