      >Passage of the measure is a symbolic victory for critics of Trump’s trade policies, but it will have little practical effect as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is unlikely to bring it up for a vote in the House and Trump is certain to veto anything that curtails his power

Some Republicans finally did the right thing? Someone needs to check Hell for ice.

Its crazy to shorten Dems but spell out Republicans and name them first, in a headline about how Democrats did something good. Even when they get a rare win, the credit gets stripped from them.

Too little, too late. They could’ve impeached that fat orange fuck a long time ago and held him responsible for j6.

None of this will make a difference. I hope the constituents of the Republican Party will all suffer from economic turmoil and finally come to their senses and realize:

„I am a Fiscal conservative“ is just another phrase for „white power“

I think we all have better chances of winning the lottery than this getting a vote in the house. Even if it does get a vote I doubt enough Republicans will get on board.

Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), the GOP sponsor of the resolution, and Sens. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska).

    8. Needs to get to Veto override levels before it means anything unfortunately.

Susie Collins voted for this because she was given permission, and it won’t make any difference.
This tracks every one of her votes.

ELI5 I thought the government was shut down, how are they passing resolutions?

While only symbolic, it’s definitely a step toward muffling the ignorance coming out of the executive branch, especially since a similar motion failed last April. POTUS and his minions should now be on notice for the midterms that his alienating and enemy producing tariffs will be curtailed one way or another.

Something tells me that the method of using legislation to give a President power to set tariffs, with a check of congress being able to repeal said tariffs by vote, but only if the the President signs the repeal of (checks notes) his/hers tariffs…is the dumbest idea I’ve heard in awhile.

Having control of all 3 branches of government and then having your own people do this, shows how much of a lame duck the mango is
