Detroit is a shithole and has an additional city income tax along with high property tax. There’s a reason why single family homes are so cheap there. Cost to insurance your vehicle will alone eat up anything you save on your mortgage payment.

It’s time that we make it illegal for investors to buy single family homes.

In other words, the property needs to be inhabitated by its owner

Does this account for property taxes? Texas lures you in with no income tax but hit you hard with property taxes that go up every year.

    4. Amazingly, cities you would actually want to live in have more expensive housing.

    5. Too drunk for this which color is good and which is bad and which political party should I be mad at

    6. As someone from the Los Angeles region, these diagrams are always interesting to me.

My colleagues and family living in the San Francisco Bay Area remark incessantly about their price of housing being the highest in the nation, as if it’s some badge of honor.

While objectively this is true, they also conveniently ignore the fact that median wages there are just that much higher (and then some). There are somehow STILL markets that are worse off.
