How is he going to build his ballroom now? Draw it on a White House map with a Sharpie?

Lol of course he did

this is just insane! 🤯 I mean, it’s not like we didn’t see some shady stuff coming, but firing the whole agency? C’mon now

How much you want to bet they’re never going to see a cent for the work they’re done already like all all his other contractors? Serves them right for working with a known convicted con man.

So we just ripped down a whole wing of the White House for nothing? Gotta be some grift behind this.

Staircase leading directly to a wall. Windows that open into each other. Somebody threw the idea at an AI and didn’t bother to double check the plans. It’s gonna be crap, even before taking away oversight.

If you do a little searching around reddit you can find I recently did an analysis that demonstrates the big ass ballroom can be built with Legos^((tm)) for a mere $18.8M (that’s using the standard 2×4 Lego bricks; I suppose it will cost a little more if you want to include some of the spiffier Lego bricks.)

POTUS can fire anyone he wants?! What a shitty system of government! What ever happened to the idea of balances and checks? I guess it was just an idea but not fully implemented.

Is the White House going to be a pile of rubble for his whole administration?
Seems fitting but it doesn’t make it any less sad.

People are confused. He’s firing the government oversight that would have stopped him. Contractors are still on the clock and now have no oversight.

There were accusations of financial improprieties, though the director was eventually acquitted. Republicans saw that as an excuse to give those jobs to Clinton donors or friends.
The republicans kept investigating this until it got brought into the Whitewater investigation that eventually led to Ken Starr’s becoming an independent council.
This ’scandal‘ was investigated until 2000. Rush Limbaugh brought it up whenever he went into the litany of ‚Clinton crimes.‘ Travelgate!
Hypocrisy doesn’t work on the right. Their shamelessness gives them an immunity to it. The Clinton’s have to be shaking their heads, though. Newt Gingrich would have jizzed himself dry imagining the impeachment investigation if Bill had done anything like this.

You can bet anything illegal, immoral, unethical, and petty is in his everyday playbook. How much more are the American people willing to tolerate?
Veearrsix on
Clearly no one actually read the article, he did not „fire“ the construction crew, he „fired“ the Fine Arts Commission who has an advisory review role for White House modifications, which means it provides recommendations on design and aesthetics but does not have final approval power. Its review is legally required for major projects.
Edit: Arguably, this is worse. More slashing government agencies because he doesn’t like rules.

It’s almost November and there is no way they can frame up and build a replacement before winter hits DC.
The planned 90,000 square foot ballroom is 1 1/2 size of a standard American football field. The earliest this evening starts is late next spring.
