Artikel 92 des Strafgesetzbuches sieht vor, dass die Beschädigung oder Verunstaltung einer ausländischen Nationalflagge in der Absicht einer Beleidigung mit einer Freiheitsstrafe von bis zu zwei Jahren oder einer Geldstrafe von bis zu 200.000 Yen geahndet werden kann. Für die japanische Nationalflagge gibt es jedoch keine entsprechende Regelung.
Die regierende Liberaldemokratische Partei und ihr Koalitionspartner Nippon Ishin no Kai (Japanische Innovationspartei) erwägen die Vorlage eines ähnlichen Gesetzentwurfs. Sanseito sucht ihre Unterstützung.

This will probably result in people getting punished for dropping a himawari bento or getting accused of sedition for using a tissue to treat a bloody nose.
