Fascinating how this isn’t even remotely proposed by any major party, yet it would be an absolute slam-dunk win if they did it.

    2. So, honest question for Finnish people: why is Finland the only country in Europe where people don’t want the rich to taxed more?

    3. So what exactly was the question? Should the rich be taxed more than they are now? Or just, should they be taxed more than the non-rich?

Some of these low percentage countries already have a bracket of over 50% tax rate at the top. Sweden is something like 57%.

So given that some of the Scandinavian countries have had problems with wealthy individuals fleeing their countries to avoid taxes, I can see why folks might be hesitant to push even further.

    4. Okay, but who are „the rich,“ and how much is „more?“ Once you get specific enough to act on, you’ll get a lot less agreement about what to do.

    5. Wealth tax ftw
High tax on income doesn’t matter because the wealthy just get stocks as compensation instead. Though, I bet there’s a loophole around wealth taxes too

Unfortunately, the rich fund and donate to the parties that make the laws and policies.

Rich, „here’s some money for your party, don’t raise my taxes“

Party, „ok, and thank you for your support“

    7. I believe that, at minimum, they should be taxed properly and in line with everyone else.

Which, yes, absolutely means they should be TAXED MORE than they currently are.

What people want and what they get are 2 different things. Just take a look at gerrymandered electoral college Trump election fraud America

    9. I call bullshit on this. At the end of November, we in Switzerland will be voting on an initiative that would put a massive tax on inheritance over 50mil. It will be rejected. There is unfortunately no universe in which it is accepted as the voting public as rejected such initiatives every time they come up.

(Btw for anyone that doesnt know, switzlerand is a direct democracy. Every citizen can vote on this issue. Not just representatives. So the lobbying argument holds no water.)

69% my ass. If that was true, the vote would go differently.

    10. It isn’t really about tax rates, it is about government created tax avoidance ability. Maybe a flat tax rate of 10-15% and nothing is tax deductible
