A quote from Ford from the article: “It was the most successful ad in the history of North America, not just here,” Mr. Ford told question period at Queen’s Park. “We had over one billion impressions, meaning one billion views and that’s still counting, from around the world. I was getting calls from people who have relatives in India, in Portugal, in Italy, in Scotland, over in U.K. Every outlet – small, large, medium – in the U.S. was talking about the conversation about it’s better to get rid of any of the tariffs.”

    2. He’s doing everyone a favour if it adds months to the theatre of negotiation.

The reality is that the supposed „deal“ that will come at the end of all this won’t be worth anything. The actual details are never going to matter. All this drama, and even if we sign something at some point, Trump’s will throw it out as soon as he needs some more attention. The best situation is just to prolong it, act as though we are engaged but work with laser like focus on removing our own provincial barriers and expanding trade elsewhere. Trade with China FFS.

    3. The irony is that once Trump’s reaction to the ad was picked up by the networks, the Streisand effect meant that many more people saw it.

As someone who lived through the Reagan years, I have mixed emotions about using him to advance the cause of economic sanity. 🙂

    5. It’s insane to me that whenever we land a decisive blow that resonates with the American people, Trump throws a hissy fit and we walk it back to try and re-negotiate in good faith.

How many times before our politicians realize there’s no good faith negotiation here?

This sub is a very sad place. People are so insanely partisan they will believe trump and hate an effective ad simply because it originated from a conservative. Pretty pathetic to be that blindly partisan.

Honestly if you believe a word out of Trump’s mouth after all these years you really need to re-examine your perception of reality.

    7. That headline is a lie. The ad didn’t derail anything. Trump laughed at it a couple days before he got mad at it. Kinda like it wasn’t actually the ad that he was reacting to. On this matter, Ford has nothing to be sorry for, it’s all on Trump throwing a toddler like tantrum.
