      Ford released his ad last Tuesday. Carney and Ford get on famously well and last Thursday — two days after the ad started running — Carney said they are “on the same page in US trade talks”.

      There is no universe where Carney didn’t know about or give a green light to those ads. Are they trying to play some sort of good cop bad cop routine here? No idea. But whatever it is, the two have clearly been aligned on strategy for months. It’s only now that that strategy has blown up in Carney’s face that he’s trying to back away from it and hang Ford out to dry.

      Carny seems to now be, rather unfortunately, blaming Ford for this.

      I’m not even blaming Carney for the failed negotiations (and he’s had plenty of time) because we are dealing with an orange donkey as the POTUS.

      I would have had a little more respect for Carney if he just called this for what it was instead of trying to blame shift onto the conservative premier.

      Personally? I think the ad was brilliant. During the World Series too.

      The US public needs to hear this and they certainly aren’t getting it from Fox News.

      And I have zero sympathy. Sure, that may have caused more trouble for us, as Trump’s thin skin caused him to erupt into a tantrum, but fuck him. He’s an asshole, and walking on eggshells around him doesn’t get you very far, so why bother trying?

      And the way he caved so fast the one time he half tried it, makes that an impotent threat.
