All that materiel and manpower lost by Putin- for such a small amount of red line territory seized

what still baffles me is that before the outbreak of the war i had the impression that if it happens, it would be a matter of days and russia would be knocking at the eu boarders. 3,5 years later, they barely advanced into what they’ve claimed to be novorussia. but i’m glad russia doesn’t have the super army they’ve made many believe to have the years prior.

And Russia wants all of the fortress cities in exchange for a “temporary maybe” ceasefire 😂

More lives lost, it all depends on which side you believe sacrificed more.

Without EU Ukraine would have lost within weeks

Looks like it’s been at this stalemate for quite some time now and for the foreseeable future.

If I were I high ranking Russian general id organise a coup from the outside and take Moscow. Better chances of survival

Conclusion: Russian military was way to overhyped
Almost 4 year few 100 sq mil of land occupied by losing close more to 1.0 mill soldiers.
Combined Ukraine and Russia close to 1.5 million have died for some elite bastds ego .

That light blue for the claimed Ukrainian counter offensive may not be the best choice. That’s usually reserved for water features. A green or something like that would have been better.

That’s a horrible shade of blue to use. Legit thought there were massive lakes on the border.

In reality, that’s all Putin really wants.

To put it in perspective: the western front in ww1 moved more and faster then the frontline in Ukraine has in the last 3 years.

Yep. This isn’t maneuver warfare, it’s attritional warfare. The goal isn’t to take land but to wear down your opponents resources until the front lines collapse. Land is secondary. It’s constant pressure versus any „blitzkrieg“ type moves.
The Russians are playing the long game.

It’s crazy to think that people were terrified of Russia and thought they could take over the world. They thought Ukraine will be gone in a couple of weeks.
Three years later and they’re still getting their asses kicked despite a massive blitzkrieg surprise attack

Too many often confuse the slow-grinding nature of attritional war for weakness.

Everyone downplaying this when it actually comprises a fifth of the country and some of its best industry and resources. I doubt anyone would be happy for their country to lose the equivalent.

8 years of built up defenses, billions sent on money and supplies to fight would make any conflict for anyone difficult.
No war like this has ever been fought with both sides possessing modern technology. Ukraine has a majority of the wealthiest nations in NATO on its side.
Main benefit is intelligence support. US satellites and drones provide lots of information for Ukraine and Ukraine has one of the largest armies in Europe in 2022.
This honestly isn’t all that surprising when you zoom out, look back, and see thay from 2014 to 2022, Ukraine received alot of support, entrenched themselves and along most of the border and now where the fighting is in Donetsk and Zaporizhye, its WW1 combat with modern weapons.
No army would move quickly in this and anyone saying the US would is not realizing the US has not fought a conflict like this that Russia is waging where multiple countries are supporting their adversary.
US spent trillions in iraq and Afghanistan for what result exactly.
And before anyone calls me some Russia apologist, I am strictly stating that any other country would struggle in this type of conflict. US never faced a conflcit this. China hasnt. Any powerful EU military hasnt.
This was never going to be a war finished in days or weeks or months. It was always going to be a prolonged conflict as Ukraine prepared for this. But looking at the map, Ukraine has lost alot of territory and is continuing to while having been backed by the majority of NATO.

Seems like the natural solution would be to split the red areas and let Ukraine be independent with the rest
